Traveling, Public Wi-Fi, and the Security of your Information

Did you know that eighty-two percent of travelers suspect that their personal information is compromised or unsafe when they utilize public Wi-Fi?  Despite this staggering statistic, nearly eighty-four percent of travelers still do not take the precautions necessary for online protection.

Your laptop, tablet, or smart phone are more than just conveniences – they are ways of life.  How often do you go without checking your e-mail on a daily basis?  Locking down the information that may be stored on these devices (including personal information such as address and social security number, credit card or bank information, or even medical records depending on your correspondences) is pivotal to keeping your identity secure while traveling.

To avoid the threat of cyber-attack, more than half of travelers admit to keeping online activity which involves this information at a minimum while one in five avoid utilizing public Wi-Fi altogether to minimize risk.
