The first Australian COMO hotel opened its doors last year.
COMO Hotels and Resorts recently opened their first Australian property, COMO The Treasury, in Perth, Western Australia. The property opened in mid-October and is the centerpiece of a new city center development that was designed by Australian architect Kerry Hill.
COMO The Treasury includes 48 rooms and suites, averaging 753 sq. ft. The interior design pairs Kerry Hill's contemporary design with the emphasis on understated luxury that COMO is known for. The rooms feature custom made “Grand Posture†king-size beds, as well as handcrafted bespoke European furniture. The en-suite bathrooms include German Kaldewei Dou free-standing bathtubs, Travertine stone tiles, twin vanities, and heated floors. The amenities include COMO's signature aromatherapy-based COMO Shambhala toiletries.
The fine dining restaurant at COMO The Treasury is Wildflower, which is located on the roof of the hotel and offers views across the Swan River. Post, which is located on the ground floor, serves modern Australian dishes that have a French influence. The menus of all restaurants in the property are overseen by Executive Chef Jed Gerrard. Other facilities in COMO The Treasure include The Treasury Lounge and bar, a heated indoor swimming pool, meeting rooms, and COMO Shambhala Urban Escape, which includes a wellness center for Pilates and yoga and offers holistic therapies.
The hotel is located on Cathedral Ave. in Perth's Central Business District and is within a new artisanal precinct named Cathedral Square Development. The renovated heritage site includes a group of buildings that is locally known as the State Buildings, all which have played vital roles in the history of the city for the past 140 years. The buildings serve as a post office, city hall, treasury, and land-titles office. Before the construction began on the site in 2012, the buildings were unused for almost 20 years.
