New Lifestyle Hotels Headed to Los Angeles New Lifestyle Hotels Headed to Los Angeles

New & trendy hotels are working to attract millennials to L.A.

New boutique hotels are popping up in downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood, helping to create savvier social centers throughout the cities. These lifestyle hotels are popping up almost everywhere in the area, rivaling the number of clubs that have long attracted visitors to the area. The first of these lifestyle hotels, Mama Shelter, opened in July of 2015. The Paris import sits on the corners of Wilcox and Selma avenues and boasts a grafittied chalkboard ceiling, oversized foosball table, and giant square bar. Each of the rooms includes a 27-inch iMac and guests have access to a beach inspired rooftop gym. Just down the street from Mama Shelter, the 10-story, 179-room Dream Hotel is currently under construction. The hotel is designed by the Rockwell Group and has been in the works for five years. Dream's design will help guests take advantage of the California weather—with penthouse walls that fold open, and lobby doors that collapse to allow for easy access to ground floor food and beverage venues down the street. Tommie Hollywood, a spinoff of luxury brand Thompson Hotels, is breaking ground in Cahuenga. Just south of Sunset Blvd. the 200-room establishment will be the first new hotel built for Thompson, and will include a bar and restaurant. The penthouse level will also include a deck, pool, fitness center, and restaurant.
