Details of American Airline's $1.6 billion renovation plans.

In October, American Airlines kicked off their renovation project on the two LAX terminals that they operate out of. With the projected cost of this renovation hovering around $1.6 billion, this decade-long project features some extensive plans. First, the airline plans to build a connection between the two terminals and a people mover system that will shuttle people from the airport to a future Metro station on Aviation Blvd and 96th St. The airline also revealed plans to combine the entrances of the two terminals and add new ticket counters, check-in areas, updated bathrooms, restaurants, and shopping areas. American Airlines' renovation project is just one part of a larger overhaul at LAX. Some of the airport's other terminals have already been upgraded. For instance, Delta began a $1.9 billion renovation of terminals 2 and 3 earlier this year. LAWA, which operates out of LAX, also has plans to add a new 12-gate concourse to the Tom Bradley International Terminal that is expected to open at the end of 2019.
