The Truth Behind Common Construction Myths The Truth Behind Common Construction Myths

Debunking popular construction misconceptions.

Many people are concerned about undertaking a commercial construction project because they buy into harmful and simply untrue misconceptions.  To ensure that you are prepared and actually excited for your project, here is the truth behind the most common construction myths.

  • Myth: Contractors are Bad at Communication Many clients have the image of an overworked, gruff contractor who does not take well to questions or inquiries.  In reality, contractors are excellent communicators.  Contractors are masters of time management and communication because they must organize all the project details as well as act as the main point of contact between owners, developers, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Myth: Job Sites are Disorganized and Dirty Most people do not consider construction sites very organized spaces.  However, while construction sites may seem chaotic at first, they are actually laid out and organized in a very specific way.  Because organization helps to avoid delays and potential accident risks, contractors make cleaning and organizing their site a priority.  The bottom line; while a construction site may not look well-organized to you, it probably is.
  • Myth: Construction Projects Always Go Over Time and Budget While we've all heard horror stories about construction projects experiencing delay after delay and going wildly over budget, this isn't the reality for most projects.  Contractors are great with working and communicating with all the different parties involved in the project.  This collaboration ensures that issues are identified and ironed out before they ever threaten the project's timeline or budget.
