Top hotel trends that will continue to be important next year.

This year, input from millennial and Gen Z travelers has radically changed the hospitality industry.  In fact, their preferences have brought about some of the most significant hospitality trends of 2019.  With younger travelers continuing to be a driving force in the travel and hospitality industries, many of these trends are expected to remain relevant in 2020.  Here are some of the trends you should be aware of.

  • Increased Personalization

This year, many hotels have attempted to personalize guest experiences.  Many brands have invested in technology that captures guest preferences and habits.  Hotel staff then use this information to make subsequent stays feel more special and individualized.  When guests feel valued and recognized, they are far more likely to give their return business to the hotel.

  • Smart Technology

The influx of younger travelers means that they have higher expectations for in-room technologies.  To meet this demand, many hotels have adopted smart room features such as mobile room keys, smart TVs, and voice control technologies.  In 2020, expect this trend to continue with top hotel brands looking to stay on the cutting edge of hospitality technology.

  • Social Media Ready

Finally, 2019 was the year of the Instagram hotel, where more and more properties created aesthetic backdrops to encourage guest social media engagement.  Because social media is a great way to appeal to the younger generation of travelers, expect to see this trend continue.  In 2020, we are likely to see complete hotel redesigns with the intent of creating the perfect pic.

These are some of the major hotel trends of 2019 that are expected to continue in 2020.  Want to stay up to date with all the latest hospitality trends?  If so, then contact Nikki Fox at Parkwest General Contractors at Nikki@ParkwestGC.com.  Our dedicated team is eager to assist you with all your building upgrade needs today.
