The Rise of Construction Robotics
The construction industry is adopting robotics as a solution to speed up tasks and meet project deadlines more efficiently. The keys to the evolution of construction robotics depend on a number of factors, including complexity challenges, technology integration, and educating investors about robotics. Here's a brief look at how contractors using robotics are disrupting the industry.

Automated Construction Robots

Robots have come a long way in the past century, from characters in children's novels to actual machines that perform work based on programming. In the construction industry, robots are used to build walls by laying bricks, as well as many other assembly line tasks. Robots are highly useful for reducing waste and boosting productivity. Autonomous vehicles such as self-driving cars and other automated equipment can run without an operator, making it advantageous for 24-hour businesses. Autonomous vehicle HX2, made by Volvo, is able to move heavy objects based on a "vision system" derived from digital logistics. These machines help the human labor force to produce output more efficiently. A contractor gains several other advantages using construction robotics. Drones are an example of smart robots as they communicate sensor-driven data from the air with multiple ground devices. Contractors can operate robots from remote locations, using them for surveying and inspecting a worksite to collect useful data.

Future of Construction Robots

The International Federation of Robotics and the Robotic Industries Association have reported that the robotics market is expected to grow annually 8.7 percent (CAGR) through 2022. IDC's forecast is over double that amount. It's clear that construction automation has made a big impact on the industry and is here to stay.
