The U.S. Green Building Council Recognizes InterContinental Hotels Group
An initiative called Green Engage by InterContinental Hotels Group has been recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council.

What is the Green Engage sustainability program?

Green Engage is an IHG-brand initiative dedicated to reducing each hotel's energy consumption, carbon footprint, water consumption and waste diversion. Recently, IHG Green Engage has announced that they will be reducing the energy spent per room between 6 percent and 10 percent over the course of the next three years.

What does the future hold for Green Engage?

Green Engage hopes to be able to reduce the carbon foot print of each of their rooms by 12 percent by 2017. Further, water usage is intended to be reduced by 12 percent in areas that require water conservation. IHG recognizes that many hotel guests prefer sustainable and green hotels, and anticipates that guests in the future will prefer to stay in more environmentally friendly rooms.
