Hospitality professionals will have access to the tools they need at Cal Poly Pomona.
The completion of the fourth building of The Collins College of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona opened its doors on Thursday, November 19
th 2015. The Collins College is helping to meet the growing employment needs of the tourism and hospitality industry by expanding its facilities.
The entire $10 million new addition was funded by private donors and will serve as a center of excellence to house the master's program of the college. The master's program is ranked as one of the top 10 tourism and hospitality graduate programs in the country.
The state-of-the-art facility encompasses 12,000 square feet and features the latest technology to help foster collaboration and academic success. Students will have access to the space they need to thrive and dedicate the necessary hours for professional papers and graduate thesis projects.
The new building features faculty offices, graduate studies classrooms, three courtyards, group study rooms, a café, a giant flex classroom, and tons of lounge space. Longtime supporters and namesakes of the college Carol and Jim Collins, The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriot Foundation, Panda Restaurant Group founders Peggy and Andrew Cherng, and Inland Empire businessman and alumnus Eugene Park provided the funds for the entire $10 million project.
There were more than 300 people in attendance for the celebration, including state representatives and legislatures who presented Soraya M. Coley, Cal Poly Pomona President, with certificates of recognition.
